Quality & Safety Manager

Positions Supervised: QC Technicians (3 shifts)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday: Scheduled hours vary



Monitor all aspects of quality for product, processes and documentation as related to the production floor procedures and inspection criteria. Responsible for checking the production molds, ink and resin on the front-end of the manufacturing process to ensure quality product is produced.

Monitor all aspects of the safety program including but not limited to production floor review to identify safety hazards, federal and state regulations compliance, and quarterly safety committee meetings.

Create and update quality, safety, and production procedures. Train production staff on all newly created and updated procedures.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

    • Oversee quality of product being produced
    • Help establish and maintain the quality system.
    • Follow the inspection guidelines, requirements and frequencies as outlined in the product inspection protocol for each item. Inspection protocol varies from item to item.
    • Ensure that records generated during inspections are maintained and stored appropriately
    • Correspondence with management regarding quality issues and requirements.
    • Assist continuous improvement activities to ensure that product and processes are not affected negatively.
    • Works with management and other employees to resolve issues with product, or processes.
    • Check molds, ink, and resin on the front-end of the manufacturing process.
    • Ability to measures parts to tolerances on job.
    • Ability to organize task to adequately protect floor from quality failures.
    • Reviews documentation and processes for conformance to quality system requirements.
    • Monitors product quality according to procedures and inspection criteria and takes necessary steps to resolve issues found.
    • Report to the CEO on the quality of the product being run and any need for improvement.
    • Ensuring the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
    • Program and audit AVID functions and measurements.
    • Audit and validate measurement accuracy / effectiveness
    • Tool accuracy
    • Operator accuracy
    • Ensure Lab and work spaces are kept clean and organized.
    • Ensure QC procedures and protocol is followed correctly.
    • Ensure effective communication between QC staff across all shifts.

      • Inspect as per instructed in the production document
    • Deco Inspections:       
      • Inspect as per instructed in the production document
    • Blow molding Specs:       
      • Inspect as per instructed in the production document
    • AQL:   
      • Inspect as per instructed in the production document
    • Tubes:                 
      • Inspect as per instructed in the production document
    • MBR:  
      • Verify all specs, drawings/artwork, revisions, part numbers, lot numbers.
    • QC Hold Area:  
      • Monitor and Disposition any items on hold or customer rejects.
    • First articles:     
      • Blow molding, Deco, Tubes.
    • Plant Quality Supervision:              
      • Coordination of all QC’s schedules, tasks, special projects and pass downs on a daily basis.
      • Substitute as needed for QC Techs during times of illness or vacations.
      • Keep track of staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage of shifts.
      • On call 24/7 to answer E-mails, calls or be on site if needed.
    • Work alongside of Management, Production Supervisors, Leads, Blow molding techs and Deco techs on verification of MBRs, NCMR’s or any Quality issues.
    • Inspections on all incoming goods and materials.
    • Receiving Management dispositions on NCMR’s and QC hold area items. Material handling QC hold items.
    • Tri folds for Blow molding, Deco and Tube items.
    • Data and history recovery.                                       
    • Write procedures and train QC and Production Staff when necessary (all three Shifts)
    • Manages safety program
    • Ensures all safety guidelines are met
    • Understand HAZMAT regulations as they relate to manufacturing
    • Understand OSHA regulations as they relate to manufacturing
    • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Experience implementing, maintaining and auditing an ISO9001 management system.
  • 5 or more years involved quality.
  • 2 or more years in supervisory position.
  • Product Approval and Product Planning experience.
